Elections 2008

  • The election was held on November 4th , 2008
  • the voters chose 5 electors who voted for president and vice president
  • because of the other election system in Nebraska, they gave one vote to the democratics and Obama and four to the republicans and McCain
  • McCain won 4/5 pre-election poll

McCain

John McCain was the candidate for the republicans in the presidential elections in 2008. He gained 173 votes and Obama got 365, so he lost the elections. 22 states carried him including Nebraska, where most people wanted him to become president. He gained 4 electoral votes and Obama got just one electoral vote, because he won all pre-election poll with at least 52%.
Nebraska is mostly a republican state, so it was nearly sure that McCain won there, but he spent in total 231.609.656 $ for election campaigns and 1,225 $ especially in Nebraska.
Also he visited Omaha and Ashland, while Obama just visited Omaha.
McCain carried two of the state’s three congressional districts, the first and the third one.

Obama

Barack Obama was candidate for the democrat party in the presidential elections 2008.His Chant was `Yes we can!` and his slogan: `Change we can believe in`.
His main Issues were the Health care, social and national security, energy, gay marriage, poverty and many more.
Obama got one electoral vote in Nebraska.He still won the Presidential elections in the year 2008.
